It is SUMMER!

No, this is not an ad for Crush but you'd think it was!
There is just something about 3 kiddos that rarely get sugary drinks each having their own bottle of Orange Crush. It's like Christmas or something! Oh to be a kid again...

And then bring out the water slide...
Instant summer memories.

Thanks for sliding by :)

Far too long

My life has been so crazy lately! I keep saying "tonight is the night I will blog" and it never happens. In the last 2 weeks we have had more birthdays and baseball games than I can count.
(Don't ask me to try, I am too drowsy from my allergy meds)

This past weekend Koby played in a theme tournament called the "Hawaiian Hitfest"
They encourage you to decorate your dugout and we went with a Hukilau theme
I also made a paper mache volcano and it smoked and erupted ;)
Koby received the MVP medal, I couldn't have been more proud of him!

On Friday night Mike and I went to the Sugarland concert and had a BLAST.
Their music is amazing, they are such talented songwriters and musicians.
With the show they put on I can easily see them being up for Entertainer of the Year in 2009!
Watch the video and see for yourself :)

I feel like scrapbooking is a thing of the past these days, there is simply no time.
I did pick up the new October Afternoon Cherry Hill and Ducks in a Row lines and LOVE it.
It's impossible to create anything that is not adorable with these papers & embellies!
The first layout is one I made specifically for a new paper line's design team call. The requirements are it has to be a layout about yourself. Hopefully I won't bore them to tears LOL

As for Ducks in a Row here is what I created with it.
I just adore these photos of Roman and Mia.

Lastly I have something exciting to share with you!
I am now a "published" scrapbooker
You can see my layout "YeeHaw" in the June issue of ScrapStreet.com Magazine!
Thanks for stopping by, Have a fab Wednesday!

Celebrating 9 years and 7 years!

First of all, my peony bloomed.
It is fabulous, it's frgrance is almost a spicy oriental scent!

May 21st was our 9th wedding anniversary, so hard to believe.
We spent the day watching a Royals game at the new K, it is AMAZING!!!
All three kids went along and it was quite an experience to say the least.

Saturday my baby boy turned 7.
I am so proud of the young man he has become.
He had a game on Friday night and hit a single, a double and a triple.
Talk about exciting!
He was asked to be a bat boy for a game on Saturday. The team was 15 & 16 year olds and I know Koby really enjoyed doing it.

To celebrate his special day we went miniature golfing and raced go karts.
I know he fell asleep as soon as his head hit the pillow ;)

Here he is with his baseball double layer birthday cake

Enjoy your holiday weekend!!

In a better place.

Just a small clarification-I like Kris and Adam, in fact Kris's music style is definitely more of what I listen to. I just think Adam is so totally different and fresh.
I guess the thing that upset me the most was that the station aired a caller that was so sarcastic and judgemental. As a station, they choose who to put on air and who not to. It just set a hateful image for them which made me very sad. There are so many people who need God and need to hear the message of God's love and acceptance, not a Christian radio station slamming someone because of their lifestyle. We all sin, daily.
off my soapbox now

Moving on... I want to start posting photos of things that inspire me and make me happy.
Here are my pups, Lola and Maci peering out of the arbor at me

Nothing sweeter than a napping little boy

Miss Mia before school, she is growing so fast

Sun tea with sliced oranges- the BESTMy yellow crown peony. I have had it for three years and it finally is going to flower! It is a very rare peony and I cannot wait to see it's blooms!

I hope you all have a wonderful Wednesday, take time to find the beauty in daily life :)

Can I vent?

I guess I don't need to ask permission, this is my blog and I can say whatever I want here.

I regularly listen to the radio station K Love on the radio, they play Christian and Inspirational music. Today I was very disturbed by some things that were said.
The on air personality was advising listeners to vote for Kris Allen tonight, not because he is the better artist but because he is a "good Christian boy" and Adam Lambert is far too "flamboyant" and "colorful".

A caller even was on air spewing hate and snickering saying he'd let his daughter leave the house with a boy like Kris whereas Adam wouldn't even be allowed in his home. Ummmm...last I checked Kris is married you dumb ass.

Yes, Adam Lambert is gay. And? What on earth does that have to do with his talent or ability to entertain and inspire millions of people?
Should he not win because he is homosexual?

The God I know is LOVE, and he doesn't discriminate against any of his children.

It hurt to hear a Christian radio station that I have financially supported be ignorant like so many other homophobic Americans.
Kris and Adam are both very talented individuals and they have totally different styles.
Personally, I will be voting for Adam tonight.
He is an unforgettable performer and deserves to win.
Not because he is straight, gay, white or Christian, but because he has God-given talent.

Night Owl

There is no way I am going to bed anytime soon...why is it that even after the most exhausting day I simply cannot wind down?
Here is the class I taught today/tonight at The Scrapbook Workshoppe http://scrapbookworkshoppe.com/ It is Dr Seuss themed and titled "Oh the places you'll go"
Next up we have a Mother's Day layout using the wonderful Pink Paislee "Enchanting" line. I will be teaching this class on June 9th at 7:00 PM.
I was lucky enough to meet Rebecca Cross, owner of Pink Paislee a few weeks ago on National Scrapbooking Day. Talk about a sweetheart! She has great style and oozes inspiration :)

And lastly, a baseball layout, because that is my life right now!
(Only 30 games left to go between Koby and Mia!) This class is June 5th at 7:00 PM
I used all Cosmo Cricket "Lil Man" on this and LOVED using the matching chipboard!

Cosmo Cricket never lets me down, I am constantly in love with their new lines!
(Can't wait to get my Early Bird Paper Crafting Kit!)

I hope you all have a wonderful weekend

Baseball and Turtles

Ah, at last, a few free moments to update...
Baseball has officially begun- full swing!!
Koby is playing machine pitch and doing awesome, he is no longer a Cardinal.
We changed the team name to "Crush" and the boys look great in orange!

We still have a Cardinals team, Koby passed the torch to Mia (who even chose to be #5 like her big brother)
She has played two games and been the star of the game both times! She even played catcher :)

There is a new pet in the Powell home.Introducing Tucker the Turtle! He's a tiny little guy, Mike found him and brought him home and the kids fell in love. He is a water turtle and lives in a tank in Koby's room

Scrapping has been virtually impossible but I have 3 layouts to share

Thanks for stopping by!

Toodles :)
